Home Visiting Collaboration & Consolidation: SB 5230 Report for 2008

Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill (ESSB) 5830, passed during the 2007 legislative session, directed the Council for Children & Families (formerly the Washington Council for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect/ Children’s Trust of Washington (WCPCAN/CT) to develop a plan with the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), the Department of Health (DOH), the Department of Early Learning (DEL) and the Family Policy Council (FPC) to coordinate or consolidate home visiting services for children and families.

Parent Child Interaction Therapy, Expansion

This is an expansion of the Parent Child interactive Training including strategies designed to target high risk low income and Latino families who have children with special needs. The program offers parent education and training as well as parent support and mentoring.

Council for Children & Families Pathways to Change

The Council for Children & Families developed a theory of change to guide our thinking about what it takes to effectively support families in order to prevent child abuse and neglect. 

Theories of change are an integral part of any planning and implementation process.  They provide a roadmap of the belief system and strategies for making positive change in the lives of individuals, organizations and the community.
