How to Report Abuse
Keeping children safe is our collective responsibility.
If you suspect a child has been neglected or abused, call your local child protective services office and make a report.
- Anytime – call 1.866.ENDHARM (1.866.363.4276). Washington state’s toll-free, 24/7 hotline will connect you directly to the appropriate local office
- Nights and weekends – call 1.800.562.5624
When you call, you’ll likely be asked:
- Child’s name, address and age
- Name and address of the child’s parent or guardian
- Nature and extent of the abuse or neglect
- Any evidence of previous incidences
- Any other evidence which might establish the cause of the abuse or neglect and the perpetrator’s identity
The more information you provide, the more equipped authorities will be to assess the child’s risk.
When speaking with a child about abuse, assure the child that he or she did the right thing by telling you and is not responsible for what happened.
