What it's About:
The PSI Annual Conference is always a great convergence of research, advocacy, and camaraderie, bringing together a broad group of participants dedicated to improving treatment and services to mothers and families worldwide. We received a record number of proposals this year and have selected an incredible faculty of expert clinicians, researchers, social support leaders, and public health professionals.
The 2011 conference has seven tracks: Prevention and Pregnancy; Medical Treatment Strategies; Non-Traditional Approaches; Special Populations; Psychotherapy; Family and Partners; and Support Groups. The annual banquet on Friday Sept. 16 features a great silent auction, live music, and inspiring speaker Valerie Plame Wilson, former CIA Operations Officer and author of the New York Times best-selling book “Fair Game.” Plame Wilson was a PSI Volunteer before she became famous and had a movie made about her.

New Perinatal Depression Tool is Web-based, Culturally Sensitive and Free
A new web-based training developed under the supervision of
Professor Emeritus of Nursing Kathryn E. Barnard, RN, PhD
and other experts at the University of Washington School of Nursing and members of the Washington State First Steps team is aimed at providers serving high-risk pregnant and postpartum women.
Keys to Perinatal Depression will offer anyone providing care to pregnant or parenting women a way to increase their knowledge of perinatal depression; gain a better understanding of cultural impediments to relationship building with clients; and sharpen their skills in the administration and scoring of recommended screening materials.
