Council for Children & Families Awards $1.6 Million in Grants

SEATTLE – July 2, 2009 –  In the most challenging budget year in Washington State history, the legislature stood up for child abuse prevention by preserving the Council for Children & Families, the nation’s first state agency devoted solely to the prevention of child abuse and neglect.  Due to the legislature’s strong support for cost-saving measures such as prevention, CCF will maintain its capacity to identify and fund proven and promising community-based family support programs statewide; albeit with a 30% decrease in the agency’s operational budget.
