 <title>Home Visiting Collaboration &amp; Consolidation: SB 5230 Report for 2008</title>

Engrossed &lt;strong&gt;Substitute Senate Bill (ESSB) 5830&lt;/strong&gt;, passed during the 2007 legislative session, directed the Council for Children &amp;amp; Families (formerly the Washington Council for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect/ Children’s Trust of Washington (WCPCAN/CT) to develop a plan with the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), the Department of Health (DOH), the Department of Early Learning (DEL) and the Family Policy Council (FPC) to coordinate or consolidate home visiting services for children and families.

 <title>Several Factors Contribute to Parents Missing Their Children&#039;s Immunization Visits</title>

They have insurance, a health-care provider, and an appointment -- but many parents still regularly miss their children&#039;s immunization visits.

A new study from Columbia University Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital claims that there are several factors contributing to these slipups -- for example, parents are nearly four times as likely to miss an appointment that they&#039;ve rescheduled, and nearly three times as likely to miss an appointment if they have difficulty communicating with their child&#039;s health-care provider.
