Building community engagement with prevention issues is important to sustaining programs as well as creating healthier communities. The Council for Children & Families contributes to this through leadership of such efforts as statewide campaigns to raise awareness about postpartum depression, Shaken Baby Syndrome, and Child Abuse Prevention Month.

The Children’s Protection Program at Seattle Children's, along with its partners the Council for Children & Families, and Conscious Fathering, a program of Parent Trust for Washington Children, have created a public service video to help new parents cope with the stress of a crying infant.

Have a Plan: Teen DVD & VHS

This video tackles the subject of Shaken Baby Syndrome prevention from a teen's point of view. Real-life teen parents share their experiences on how they raise their babies and cope with the frustration of a crying child.
